Testimonials

Tim Plunges because his cousin was an athlete and it allowed him to see the joy that it bring to athletes that are competing

I plunge because, as an athlete myself, I understand the importance of sports to a healthy and balanced life. Special Olympics of MD creates an environment for these athletes to excel in life by instilling values of leadership, commitment, confidence, resiliency and teamwork among many others. I plunge so athletes can continue to participate in their sports for free!

Bayside Physical Therapy and Sports Rehabilitation plunges because we believe all people should have the opportunity to live an active lifestyle. We love helping people accomplish their wellness goals and want to continue our support of the Special Olympics of Maryland athletes.

I started plunging as a young professional, for social and charitable reasons. Fundraising was simple as many people were willing to donate when they heard it would benefit Special Olympics Maryland. I was instantly hooked on plunging and for 5 years I have joined a small group of professionals that can brave the cold. I have moved to a new company since my first plunge and am now team captain, encouraging other professionals to join the Polar Bear Plunge community and support Special Olympics Maryland.

I plunge for my son Marcus Nagle as well as for all Maryland Special Olympics Athletes. Our son Marcus has participated in the Special Olympics (Howard County) since he was 8 and he is now 29 years old. Marcus has participated in soccer, bocce, basketball, softball, and bowling. It is such a wonderful organization. The Special Olympics is a great place for resources, sharing the challenges and milestones with other parents, family and friends and making lifetime friendships.

Macario or my Uncle Mac was and still is the angel of our family. His face and smile lit up every room he was in and his sense of humor is unmatched. He participated in lots of different special Olympics events over the years; mainly bowling or track events. Although he physically left us 15 years ago, he is in our hearts forever. He is the reason I plunge and the reason I will continue to volunteer for SOMD as often as possible. For all of the Uncle Mac’s out there making differences in this world.
