Bus Request

The school team that fundraises together travels together!

  • SOMD will cover the cost per bus up to $600 in the form of reimbursement to the school. Each school must first pay for & make transportation arrangements with their chosen bus company.
  • Each team must raise a minimum of $3,000 per bus (Individually, that’s around $75 per person) – Example: One team raises $6,000. SOMD will reimburse $1,200 for transportation.
  • The bus must be acquired and arranged by a school Representative. (To/From transportation on Plunge day will be coordinated between this representative and their chosen bus company).
  • Bus Request Form and Invoice for bus must be submitted to Special Olympics no later than March 13th, 2026. The team must meet the above goal requirements at this time.
  • Special Olympics Maryland is transitioning to electronic payments to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and provide faster payments to the schools. If your school is able to support this effort, please confirm your participation on the Bus Request form, and we will send you an additional form to complete and return to facilitate this process.

The Cool School Challenge does not require bus passes to enter the park. Your bus will be directed where to park upon entering. We encourage parents and volunteers to carpool to Sandy Point State Park. For questions please contact coolschools@somd.org.
