Be a part of the 2012 Cool Schools Challenge Plunge!

The Cool Schools Challenge is back and better than ever. The 2011 Cool Schools Challenge raised $150,000 for SOMD, thanks to nearly 2,000 brave students from all over Maryland.

It’s back in 2012, and you can once again choose from two great events! School groups participating in the Cool Schools Challenge can participate at either 1 or 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28 during the regularly scheduled Plunges, OR take part in the 2nd Annual Frigid Friday event on Jan. 27 at noon. Not only does this schools-only event provide a safe environment for our youth Plungers, and allow students to earn service learning credits, but it is also a great opportunity to promote and highlight your school!

On-site parking for Frigid Friday is available for all participants.

Form a Cool School Team

Is Your School Cool? Then come be a part of the 2012 Cool Schools Challenge for the MSP Polar Bear Plunge! It’s a great way to show your school spirit AND earn service learning credits. School teams can participate during the exclusive Frigid Friday Plunge on 1/27, or during either of the regularly scheduled Plunges on Saturday 1/28. See below for all the details and benefits of this great community service activity!

Fundraising Guidelines

Teams must have a minimum of 10 members to be eligible for team prizes. Cool School Teams MUST pre-register to be included in the Challenge; no Cool School teams attempting to register on-site on either Friday or Saturday will be accepted. On Saturday, previously un-registered individuals will be able to participate in the Plunge, but will be considered individual participants only. On Friday, ONLY pre-registered participants that are part of official Cool School Teams will be allowed to participate.

Cool School Testimonials

"The kids LOVED getting t-shirts! They had a TOTAL blast too. Almost all of my graduating 8th graders said that they would join my team again next year. Plus, when they got back to school and told the other kids about it, I had a lot more students interested. All of the parents that came had a great time too - I didn't hear one complaint. Because of the good response, we're definitely going to take advantage of the parking spaces again next year if offered."
